SAR (Supreme & Righteous) known for droppin mad break beat samples, twisting, cuttin, and crafting his style within it all. Drops his 1st self-titled project "SAR-Supreme & Righteous". One of My Block Recordz/Benjamin Tribe most political and conscious Albums. Coming from the sounds of The Roots, J-Dilla, & Madlib, SAR gives a whole different view and aspect to HipHop musically and lyrically.
Well....we are finally here, the last of The Daraja Hakizimana Jazz Collection Trilogy. Pushing the musical envelope even more, Daraja give his listeners an album that goes deeper musically, spiritually, and sexually. The albums major theme is LOVE. So every track on the project is centered and catered around that subject and mood. Daraja takes the keyboard sound definitely to a whole other place and planet. And Casey's guitars will no doubt have u feelin love hung-over. The projects two main singles "One of Kind" & "Exploring U" are songs that give you that oldschool feeling, like when you was in highschool bout to go on your first date or about to get your first kiss. This project is that and more! So Lovers, Couples, & Spouses sit down and enjoy the last Musical Journey (with no words) from Daraja Hakizimana. Til we meet again....Lovetricity.
From 2002-2005, and during the joining of Devin The Dude's group "The Coughee Brothaz". Casey Kimble recorded a bunch of material with My Block Recordz. The album symbolizes that era and all those good moments with it. Casey runs his electrifying guitar through most of the tracks giving it a feel and experience unlike any hip hop album today..
The album is called The Addiction, some may say and speculate this is reference to their addiction to marijuana, music, the fast life, money, or just simply love. But no doubt it has a story, and a very simple one. The album starts off with "Searchinâ€, a track that was also featured on Daraja's "Back Against tha Wall" Project, highlighting their sexual desire for a certain woman’s shape and body. It moves on to the track "Bullshittin", pointing out clearly how certain loves can be beating around the bush with their relationship, and ends with "Fantasy". Confessing their infactuation with a fantasy like woman. The album also has two accapela tracks that showcases Geno’s sultry tenor voice and pays tribute to Donny Hathaway and Sam Cooke . A lot went into making this album and it's the first of many to come. Its definetly gonna take you down that old school road with a twist of the new school wrapped up with it." So if you grew up on a lot of 90’s music (New Jack Swing) , love Neo Soul, and Electronica music. You’ll definetly love Club 803 - The Addiction.
Lab Rat Daraja's 3rd hip hop release on My Block Recordz is all about that, capturing that moment. The term Lab Rat, is a name that most musicians use when someone is doing nothing but staying in the recording studio (pretty much living there). Following his last release Daraja of The Coughee Brothaz - Back Against the Wall, Daraja doesn't put too much emphasis on any particular isssue. "The album is about me trying to escape, going somewhere else and also stepping out from under the coughee Brothaz shadow.
Are u ready? We are now here with the 2nd of the Daraja Hakizimana Jazz Collection
Cassanova...The Soundtrack. Going straight to the root
the heart, which consists of Love, God, and Beginnings.
Cassanova is the soundtrack to our lives. Following
up after Street Jazz and Love 95 this album is straight for
the ambitious, players, and artists who try to woo life.
So enjoy...to all the Cassanovas.
Back again with a whole new sound production,
a few new friends, and a new story. Daraja has another
dessert to serve. This project stems from Daraja’s bittersweet, constant unresolved, (and he made me print that) ex-wife relationship that ended very sourly. The album also symbolizes the meetings, coughee rituals, and sessions of Devin The Dude’s group The Coughee Brothaz. The album features Jugg Mugg of The Odd Squad & Coughee Brothaz, That Boy Cayse, Tony Mack, Sk-Mac, Coache Johnson, Lyricidal The Genius, Sarkhas, & Club 803. I wanted the album to be in some aspect of what Marvin Gaye’s “Here my Dear†album was, but just in a hip hop reflection.
Ok its here, finally That Boy Cayse maxi single. Its been linked a bit in the streets and getting a nice buzz. Under the My Block Recordz camp and part owner, Cayse is sure to light the flames of bodies grinding and grooving on the dance floor. This is officially My Block's first club banger, so get fresh, light somethin, and put this in your ride as you cruise to the club.
My Block Recordz 1st underground mixtape from Artist/Producer Daraja Hakizimana. Following up after the Kamakazae, Poetking, & Streetjazz & Love 95 release. Daraja went into the studio with some of his favorite artist cd's and instrumentals, and within a month of smoked out jam sessions and freestyles the Classics was produced. Some of the featured producers and artist are J-Dilla, Saafir, Outkast, Chucky Thompson, Bob Marley & The Wailers, & more.
The first official Hip Hop album from My Block Records and the
Daraja Hakizimana Collection, Poetking is a throwback to the
experimental raw classic essences of hip hop. With a line up of
new artists and a change from your basic club beat,
Daraja’s interpretations are extremely refreshing, with
selling albums being secondary to self expression. So all
underground heads, musicians, revolutionaries, and smokers join
us as we journey through the many layers of Hip Hop.
The first from My Block Records and from the Daraja Hakizimana Jazz Collection. Street Jazz and Love95 is an soulelectric album centered around keyboard riffs,
guitar solo’s and life experiences. Staying in the path of
Art of noise, Sade, and Paul Hardcastle, Daraja’s interpretation
of sound is truly unforgetable. So sit back, relax, have a sip wine,
and enjoy the soulelectric sounds of Daraja Hakizimana.
